I’m pleased to be able to introduce you to a Pyrenean Mountain Dog today, her name is Blanche. I’m sure you’ll enjoy hearing about her. Put your paws together and give her a warm Clowie’s Corner welcome!
Clowie: Thank you for joining me today, Blanche. Let’s begin with you telling us a little about yourself.
Blanche: I’m a Great Pyrenees, born 9 winters ago on a farm in the Pyrenees to a long line of French aristocrats, one of the last pups born to the famous World Champion Noustamic de Neouvielle. I’m all white with one little brown bit on my right ear. As a puppy I went to Swiss Finishing School with top dog-trainer Michel Hasbrouck and since then I’ve done a bit of modelling – oh, and some of my stories are in a book too.
C: That means you’re famous.
Blanche: I suppose I’m as famous as my Dad but without ever going to a Show. I wouldn’t like shows; I’d probably bite the judge. I don’t let just anyone push me around.
C: That would be a surprise for the judge! Would you like to tell us about your family?
Blanche: Top Human is my female, the writer and photographer. You have no idea how mad her ideas are but we have all kinds of fun together.
C: Most bipeds I know have strange ideas! I’m glad you have fun together.
Blanche: Then there’s her man, who gets left in charge sometimes. He’s easier to bamboozle. One time, with my best friend Betelgeuse, we stormed the kitchen while the man was cooking and stole a box of eggs. We only wanted the box so we dropped the eggs on the floor as we ran out. He was not very happy.
C: I’d have eaten the eggs – including the shells! Your friend sounds fun.
Blanche: Betelgeuse and I grew up together and it was tough when he grew ill and died. My friend now is a hunting dog with ginormous ears and the biggest trumpeting voice you have ever heard. I’m loud but he’s musical too! Sherlock was dumped by his Human, some hunter, and lived in a cage for a long time.
C: That was awful for him.
Blanche: He had issues at first but he’s chilled now. I don’t think he was any good at hunting though – he still jumps when the Clairette wine bottle is popped – and that happens most nights.
C: That would make it difficult to be around guns! Do you have a favourite game?
Blanche: I like hiding behind the hedge and surprise-bombing visitors, especially first thing in the morning when they’re half-asleep. I find Humans entertaining when they run around so I still steal things sometimes just to make sure everyone gets some exercise.
C: I’d like to see the visitors’ faces! It’s important to keep our bipeds exercised. Do you have a favourite book?
Blanche: ‘Someone To Look Up To’ has me and Betelgeuse on the cover and some of the stories in it are things we got up to. I’m the one who stole a slab of cheese and got it stuck in my mouth so I couldn’t breathe – horrible!
C: I love cheese! I had no idea it could be so dangerous. Maybe the bipeds are right when they say I should only eat small pieces!
I think you said you have a surprise for my readers?
Blanche: Yes, that’s right, my human said that I could give a digital version of the book to one of your readers. And she wants you to know that if you review ANY of her books you can add your photo to her Gallery of Readers’ Dogs.
C: That’s very kind. Thank you for being my guest today, I’ve enjoyed chatting with you.

How to enter the prize draw
It’s very simple to enter the draw for the book. You have until midnight (British Summer Time) 31st May. The winner will be announced in June. Here is what you need to do:
1. Leave a comment on this post saying that you would like to be entered in the draw. (Multiple comments count as one – I’ll be putting unique email addresses in the hat for the draw.)
2. This step is optional. You can get a second entry, and double your chances of winning, by using my Contact Form to send me a question. You can ask anything about me, or Pyrenean Mountain Dogs (Great Pyrenees), or something you’d like my bipeds to answer. Simple, complex, serious, amusing – you decide! I will choose which ones to answer on the blog.
The winner will be chosen at random. The judge’s decision will be final. Bribery will get you nowhere, but if you wish to try then you should know that I’m very partial to cheese and I promise to share with Blanche!
Good luck!
See you next Wednesday!
As soon as I started reading this weeks blog I did wonder if the Pyrenean Mountain Dog was in some way connected to the lady from France on Twitter who linked up with us both – and so it proved to be! Thanks for the entertaining read – good to see that you’ve got a pal overseas ! Happy #woofwoofwednesday 🙂
And you were right! I’m glad you enjoyed reading the interview.
Have a great #woofwoofwednesday!
Glad you enjoyed Blanche’s interview and thanks for all the twitter connections – appreciated!
Sure! Enter me into the draw!
BTW – I’m with Clowie. I’d DEFINITELY have eaten the eggs! AND the shells. AND the box.
Love and licks,
Cupcake

Consider your name in the hat!
Yes, it’s a waste to leave the eggs! And the shells are nice and crunchy. And the box has probably picked up some interesting flavours…
Have a great day, Cupcake!
Blanche is a discriminating eater – from a dog’s perspective (generally, the more disgusting the better and anything stolen tastes best of all)

WOW……Miss Blanche is beautiful but not NEARLY as beautiful as you are dear Clowie……it sounds like she may be royalty – wow! I’ve never met a REAL Princess before…………..!

Thank you, Sammy – you really know how to flatter me!
I was sure you’d enjoy meeting Blanche!
I think Blanche and Clowie are both beautiful. Since I moved to France I’ve realised how different the French Pyr type is from the UK/US type – the French type is less massive. Blanche is particularly fine-featured, even for a French girl.

Blanche you are a beautiful princess and I like your friend Sherlock… my momma loves the voice of this guys (that’s scandalous…. if I bark she says I kill her nerves… pfff humans).
easy rider recently posted…easyblog THRILLING TUESDAY
Dogs like Sherlock do have a different type of voice, but that’s a scandalous thing for your mom to say about your bark! If it’s any comfort, my bipeds always tell be to be quiet and not to make such a horrible noise.
Hunting dogs ‘give voice’ very clearly but you have to hear Sherlock joining in with the brass band next door to get the full effect (my neighbour’s a music teacher).

She is very pretty and I think she has lots of fun. I’m pleased you enjoyed meeting her!
Thank you! I’ve been told I look like I have kohl round my eyes too. Blanche

I would love to be entered!
My big sister is a Pyr and we have lots of fun…..well I have fun jumping all over her! I steal eggs also I eat everything though, the inside, the shell and the box! My sister only daintily eats the inside…boooring 🙂
You are entered! It’s lovely to meet you.
Your sister is missing all that lovely crunch by leaving the shell – I hope you get her shells as a bonus.
Some dogs just have more taste than others 🙂

We are all cats in this house but we’d love to be entered anyway! (I can’t promise the cats will actually enjoy the book but I will!)
I’m sure your cats would like to snuggle up to me on a cold winter’s evening, if they could forget I’m a dog! I’m sure they’ll be peeping over your shoulder if you win the book.
Blanche grew up with a cat as I used to breed Birmans. My cats trained several Great Pyrenees – they used to jump onto a table so they could bop the new pups on the nose until the message came across ‘Nobody messes with the cats’.
Jean Gill recently posted…2015 IPPY Silver Award for this website!
Cats are like that. I had one that trained a greyhound to stay out of our yard. We called her the pit cat.
Pitcat is good 🙂

Hi there Clowie, it’s lovely to meet and hear about Blanche – sounds very posh MOL. We would love to be entered into the draw too 🙂 Have a great week xx

Hi Austin, I’m glad you enjoyed meeting Blanche. I’ll make sure your name goes in the hat.
Enjoy what’s left of the week!
You would not think Blanche posh if you saw some of the things she eats. One time she was walking my husband through the forest and when I turned round to look, she had half a baguette in her mouth. How she found that in the middle of nowhere I do not know! And my husband had not even noticed!

Such beauties! Would love to be entered. Thanks
I think the photos are gorgeous! I’ll make sure your name goes in the hat.
So nice that you included Sherlock – I think he’s beautiful, with his marbled blue wire-haired coat and long hunting-dog ears but when hunting-dogs end up in a shelter they hardly ever get adopted. Hunters assume they’re no good at hunting and for pet owners, there’s a myth that hunting-dogs always run away – I’ve had more trouble with Great Pyrenees trying to do a runner!

The only time our garden gate was left open for a moment, I went exploring.
Of course you did 🙂 I hope you returned to your bipeds quickly! It’s a dangerous world out there.
Jean Gill recently posted…2015 IPPY Silver Award for this website!
A neighbour saw me and escorted me home, so I didn’t get much exploring done!
Well, we can tell why Blanche is otherwise known as the Princess – she is stunning! Wonderful interview Clowie. Such a great family too.

She does look lovely in all the photos! I’m glad you enjoyed the interview.
She has a way of looking down her nose at other dogs when she’s out for a walk, that clearly shows her belief that she’s royalty.
Jean Gill recently posted…2015 IPPY Silver Award for this website!
Such a good interview, Clowie — you, of course, know exactly what questions to ask, and you had a good rapport with Blanche.
The last photo of Blanche and Betelgeuse is beautiful. So full of gentle friendship and personality.
I’d like to be entered in the draw for her book!

I’ve popped your name into the hat.
I’m glad you enjoyed the interview, it was fun for me. I like their expressions in that photo.
Thank you, Cindi – that’s Sherlock in the photo, Blanche’s current friend. Betelgeuse was another Great Pyrenees and that’s his photo on the front cover of ‘Someone to look Up To’ . The cover photo on Pyr Magazine (that I’m holding in the photos) shows Blanche and Betelgeuse together.

Cheese is lovely. Food is lovely. Barking is fun. I think we could get along well with Blanche too. She would be much more intimidating when she surprises visitors though, than most dogs we know. She sounds like a scream 🙂 Our person would love to read her person’s book.

I’ll make sure your person is put in the hat!
It is very good to see you too Clowie — our person has had a rugged winter but she finally seems to be perking up. To make sure, our Gracie jumped in the bath with her this morning and reports she’s as lively as ever 😉
Saved by dogs recently posted…Maintaining a Dog Safely and the Role of Fencing: Part I Invisible Fence
That sounds funny! One of our cats used to like jumping in the bath when he was a kitten. He’d sneak into the shower as well – I don’t think he knows that cats don’t like water!
That sounds like the start of a good dog poem :)Cheese is lovely. Food is lovely. Barking is fun. Gardens should be big and walks long.

Very good interview Clowie. I had no idea cheese could be dangerous either. Unless one of us “cuts it” and we all have to run out of the room! Hahaha!
