I was almost ten months old, when my bipeds started talking about going away for a long weekend. I thought this probably meant that I was going to the kennels, as I’d stayed there overnight a few times. It was very nice at the kennels and I was always pleased to see the people there, but I preferred being with my bipeds.
I heard them talking about a fun dog show, especially for large breeds. That sounded like it could be lots of fun. Why would they want to go to something like that without me? I heard them making phone calls and making arrangements to stay away.
I saw them doing some packing and making lists, so I knew the weekend in question was getting close. Then the cats’ baskets were brought out and the cats were put in them and one of the bipeds picked up car keys. I went and waited by the front door, but I was told I couldn’t go. This was confusing – I thought I was going to the kennels!
When my biped came home again, she didn’t have the cats with her. I decided I’d better watch every move she made and I stayed by her side. She gathered up loads of my things and put them in bags next to the packed suitcase. I wasn’t sure what was going on, but I was ever so excited.
The male biped came home and had something to eat, then he asked, “Are we ready then?”
She replied, “Yes, I think so!”
He said, “Don’t sound so worried, the first place is less than an hour from home – it’s easy to come back if things are not working out!”
They picked up the car keys and asked me if I wanted to get in the car. Of course I did! After I was settled comfortably in the car, they brought everything else out and then they locked the front door and we set off.
We stopped after about half an hour and we had a walk. Then we got back in the car and set off again. About twenty minutes later we parked the car again and I had a short stroll with my bipeds. Then the male biped went into a building, while I waited outside with the female. He soon appeared in the doorway and beckoned to us to join him.
We went across to him and we went through the door together. There were a couple of bipeds who I’d never met before. One of them came up to me and stroked me and gave me a treat. I was almost too excited to take the treat! Then the other one came across and made a fuss of me as well. They told me how lovely I am and then they told my bipeds to ask if there was anything we needed.
We went along the corridor and unlocked a door and went in. I was allowed to have a sniff around. Then the male biped went to get our stuff from the car. They put a blanket in the corner of the room for me, they found my bowls and gave me some water. They unpacked some of their things and then we went for another walk.
When we came back in my bipeds got ready for bed, while I had another sniff around the room. Then they told me to settle down on the blanket in the corner and they climbed into bed. I was very tired and I tried to settle down, but everything was different and so exciting – I kept getting up for another sniff around the room.
Eventually I settled down next to their bed and went to sleep. The next morning, one of my bipeds took me out for a short walk as soon as they were awake. While they were getting ready to go to breakfast, the female said something that still puzzles me. She said that she’d not slept very well because there had been loud snoring on both sides of her most of the night. I’d heard the male biped snoring, before I went to sleep, but I still can’t work out where the second lot of snoring could have come from!
We went to have breakfast and they chose a table by the window with space next to the wall. I settled down by the wall while they ate. I was really surprised when some sausage was handed down to me!
I was having a wonderful weekend and it had only just begun. I had lots more fun in the next few days, but I’ll tell you more about that another time.
See you next Wednesday!
I’m so glad you got to go along Clowie, my sweet Buddy just loved to be in the car, but we never took him on a holiday. I tell you a little secret, Mr B has told me that he hears snoring at night too. I admit to nothing of the sort…LOL
Thank you, I’ve had some really lovely holidays with my bipeds.
It’s a puzzle – hardly anyone snores and yet lots of people hear snoring!!
How lovely that you got to go along! Just the thing for a young pup to get used to 😉
I had a wonderful time and I’ve had some great holidays since. I can’t imagine why my bipeds were a little nervous at the beginning of that holiday!
Sounds like you were in a jolly nice place, Clowie!
It was amazing to go and stay somewhere new with my bipeds.
At last we could leave you a comment. So glad you enjoyed your holiday so far. Looking forward to more of your advenutre.Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
Hi Molly, were you having trouble? I hope you have a great day!
Clowie, this sounds like the most fun trip ever! I have stayed in a hotel before and it was great fun. I was not allowed in the restaurant, though, so no sausage for me. Bummer. I do wonder where that mysterious snoring was coming from. Hmmmm…..
Love and licks,
Cupcake
I love it when I’m allowed in a restaurant – you never know what will find its way down to you. That snoring is still a mystery!
Oh how exciting Clowie! Can’t wait to hear more! What an adventure…..
Kitty Hugs, Sammy
It was very exciting! I think you’d be happier at home in your tent though, my cats prefer familiar surroundings.
Clowie what an exciting adventure!!! A Car ride, treats, a different room and SAUSAGE!!!! I wonder just WHO ELSE made that noise? BOL!
Yes, that’s lots of fun all at once! I think that snoring will always be a mystery!
Traveling is fun! We don’t travel as much as we did when we lived in Europe but we still enjoy it…sometimes it is stressful but overall we enjoy it.
It is lots of fun! I think my bipeds get a bit stressed sometimes when they’re doing the packing, but they always enjoy themselves once we’re away!
Clowie everyBODY needs to get away on holiday now and then. Hmmm, that second snorer is a mystery to me.
Holidays are good for you. I’m hoping to solve the mystery one day!
It’s not a big mystery in our house and I can tell you it isn’t me.. 😀
I believe you!
How fantastic Clowie, and you were so good, considering you were in a strange place 🙂 Sausage, yum 🙂 Can’t wait to hear the rest. xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
I was good – they were really pleased with me at the end of the weekend.
Sounds just wonderful Clowie. Your poor Mom though, with all that snoring 😀
It was wonderful. She said that both lots of snoring were very loud – it’s a puzzle!
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I’m glad they were able to take you this time. 🙂
I had an amazing time – everything was new and exciting!
Maybe you had an invader at night who was snoring like a sawmill? I hope I can beat my fear about cars soon – think that’s important to go on a holiday ;o)
I think I would have heard if anyone else had entered the room, but it does seem to be the only explanation! I think you should try to tolerate the car – your staff could never manage to carry all your stuff for a holiday otherwise.
they could buy a sedan chair – for me and my stuff – then they have only to carry the sedan :o)
I think that’s an excellent idea! They would benefit from the extra exercise – all bipeds need more exercise!
Sounds like a great first trip. Especially the treats.
Some of the time I was so excited that it was difficult to concentrate on the treats!
This trip is starting out great Clowie…3 of my favorite things so far…car rides, hotels & sossidges! Can’t wait to see what happens next…happy Wednesday!
They’re 3 of my favourite things – a great start to a holiday!
Ooh, your first holiday! That’s so exciting!
Yes, I had so much fun!
Oh, Clowie…I just love, love, LOVE road trips! I cannot wait to hear more about yours! Thanks for visiting my blog today. I hope we can become good friends.

Hi Texas, I had a wonderful time and it was very exciting!
Wow that sounds ace! Do you think maybe the other snooring was your female biped and she had snored herself awake?
I just asked her that. She says she never snores!
I can’t wait to hear how your first vacation went. I bet you have a great time. I love going hiking with my people.
It’s always exciting to go somewhere different!
I’m so glad that you had a good time.
Thank you.
Wow Clowie, sounds like a pretty awesome vacation!
It was! I had a wonderful time.
Oh My Cat!! And Clowie, you were just a young girl then, so the bipeds REALLY trusted you lots! And look at you now Clowie, a world traveler..living a pawsome life in Spain. PURRfect, Savannah
I think they were a little bit nervous that I might forget my manners with all the excitement, but they soon relaxed and had as much fun as I did.
Mom Dad trvld with 3 Sibes to dozens of dog shows over 5 years the Sibes were always very respectful
Your Mom and Dad couldn’t have had much room for their own luggage, by the time they had everything for the dogs in the car!
no kidding and in beginning they only had honda accord 4 door MOL later station wagon, and Sibes travels in their wire crates. They were very good travelers. But also had to get grooming table, noms, gear, what an adventure those days were. All 3 got bathed EVERY Friday night beofre weekend of 2 dogs shows, one Sat one Sun…thank cod they were young back then LMFBO
Ha, and my bipeds complain about the space that they need for me and my stuff! They must have been tired at the end of the weekend, even if they were still young!
Sounds like fun Clowie! My mom says she has a hard time sleeping cause dad and I snore. I know dad snores but I think she is making up stories about me! Just sayin’! BOL!
It was a lot of fun! I’m sure you don’t snore. One of our cats snores sometimes – it sounds so cute!
What a wonderful exciting time you must have had Clowie! But your poor biped suffering all that snoring!!! 🙂
It was amazing, I had so much fun. I don’t think she ever sleeps very well the first night away, but the snoring is a real mystery!
Hmm! Very strange that one! No idea who could have been responsible for all that racket!!! 🙂
Sounds like you had a great time. can’t wait to hear more!
Yes, I enjoyed myself a lot!
